Battlefield 6 Gamers Are Convinced: Missions Are Overly Demanding

The debut of the eagerly awaited Battlefield 6 received broad praise, particularly for its premier multiplayer mode. Just on Steam, live player figures surged to nearly 750,000. However, despite its popularity, many players are expressing frustration over some of the game's most difficult challenges, which are mandatory to unlock specific weapons.

Gamers have begun turning to custom matches created through the Portal feature to finish these tasks, highlighting just how demanding these missions have become.

Grasping BF6 Objectives

Missions serve as Battlefield 6's fixed in-game challenges, as opposed to the periodically changed day-to-day and weekly tasks. There are four categories of assignments, but although many simply offer skins and a few gadgets, completing the weapon assignments is the only way of obtaining a dozen out of forty-one key firearms found within the game.

Some of these restricted firearms might eventually earn a place on rankings for the finest arms in Battlefield 6.

Gamer Backlash across Reddit

Over on Reddit, players are understandably expressing their worries about how difficult and grindy a number of these challenges are. One user highlighted one of the most outrageous examples, required to unlock the KTS100 MK8 LMG:

  • Neutralize 300 foes with LMGs
  • Inflict 10,000 hipfire damage with LMGs

"This task is so terrible and entirely ill-conceived, I want to scream in frustration," is a quote that summarizes just how excessively challenging these tasks are.

The suppression mechanic in Battlefield is weaker than it's ever been in the series, so it lacks nearly as many positive effects in fights as it had in previous games. It only tallies as suppression if you miss multiple shots in a row.

Additionally, using an LMG from the hip is extremely unreliable and is effective only at point-blank proximity, which isn't typically where you prefer to be. The same user also highlighted the irony in the SMG challenge, to unlock the SCW-10, which needs takedowns using ADS, when that mission would be far more appropriate to hipfire kills, and conversely.

Another Extremely Difficult Task

One more community participant brought attention to a further incredibly demanding challenge, now in the marksman rifle class to obtain the PSR:

  • Achieve 150 headshot eliminations from more than 200 meters away with long-range weapons

This is challenging enough on its own, but there's another important point to consider: most Battlefield 6 maps do not even allow combat at that kind of range.

There exists a reasonable assortment of map sizes, but since there are only nine maps in the game right now, it means you're limited to playing a specific urban map, another expansive area, and perhaps Operation Firestorm at a push if you plan to engage from afar from a significant distance.

The Alternative Method

There is a workaround though: the portal. The custom game creator is a system that permits you to create personalized matches on whatever map you choose, including AI opponents. This allows you can cheese the system… but it doesn't really seem like the spirit of the game.

But when completing the missions in a normal session feels like anti-playing, since you have to play in such an unconventional way that offers no advantage to anyone, who can blame someone for completing them in a personal session so squad members are not disadvantaged?

Future Adjustments

It should not be shocking if a number of these missions are adjusted to be less difficult in the coming days or weeks, because should they remain unchanged, a portion of the user base simply are unlikely to obtain the locked firearms.

Currently, the community continues to voice their opinions on these demanding battlefield assignments, hoping for a more balanced overall gameplay in future updates.
