The Greatest Local Multiplayer Title You Have Almost Certainly Not Played Is Coming to Nintendo Switch
Wizard of Legend II, an roguelike journey featuring wizards striving to achieve status as legends, will arrive to the Switch in the coming weeks. Gamers can get playable the 25th of November, offering devotees of couch co-op games a fresh shot to explore among this year's strongest releases in the genre.
A Troubled Launch
The Wizard of Legend Sequel adopted the trajectory of many lesser-known games. Its creators released it in pre-release in late 2024 on Windows PC, ahead of releasing it completely, together with PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X iterations, in mid-2025. When it debuted, it faced heavy criticism. Just less than a third of its user reviews were favorable. Its player reviews on Steam were "mixed", based on nearly a couple thousand reviews, with numerous gamers critiquing the overall roughness and litany of bugs initially. Those on consoles further condemned that the co-op feature, a key feature for the title, was largely non-functional.
Ongoing Improvements
Yet like many pre-release games that release in imperfect forms, Wizard of Legend II has been shaping up. Over the past few months, its developers have deployed a series of patches designed to address these concerns. After playing Wizard of Legend II more frequently than every other latest game in the current year, I can confidently say it performs better compared to at launch (for Xbox, if nothing else). It's hit the point where nine times out of ten, players can reliably initiate a co-op session to operate. Not bad!
When It Functions, It Works
And once Wizard of Legend II operates, it works. Using an isometric view, you fight through magic-oriented levels by using magic in action-oriented mechanics. Lots of sprinting, plenty of dodging, plenty of handling spell delays. This game is dizzyingly fast-paced and remarkably inventive; when you mix and match your abilities alongside a partner's, you can create powerful synergies.
Switch Version Information
While the portable iteration is yet to be comprehensively reviewed, it's important to remember Nintendo's famously strict guidelines for certification for Nintendo titles. The developer confirmed in a news release that the Nintendo release of The Wizard of Legend Sequel features every patch that were implemented recently.
