The Simpsons Arrives in Rocket League: Unfortunately Not the Car Fans Are Dreaming Of

It was previously announced that the iconic animated series was collaborating with Epic Games' battle royale, but that's not the only place where enthusiasts can experience the world of Springfield. The beloved show is coming over to Rocket League, introducing an in-game car skin that will also be compatible in the Fortnite universe. That said, if gamers will truly desire to equip it is a different matter, as fans have their hearts set on just one Simpsons vehicle the community is itching to drive, and this new offering isn't that one.

The Dream Vehicle

While many gamers would undoubtedly love to compete behind the wheel of The Homer—the famously flawed car Homer built personally in the 1991 episode "Oh Brother, Where Art Thou?"—regrettably, that isn't what's being offered. We aren't even getting the Canyonero, the heavy-duty truck featured in season 10. Instead, players are getting the Simpsons' everyday beat-up sedan, which they've been driving since the show's early days. Though this particular car has seen better days, it remains an iconic symbol of the series. And for players who pay attention to the game's vehicle dimensions, the Simpson family car uses the same hitbox as the Dominus.

More Than Just a Car

But that's not the sole cosmetic from the series coming to the game. The event will additionally feature a set of challenges to earn additional goodies, all of which are inspired by the show. As detailed in a official announcement, the challenges will require participants to "achieve a certain number of centers and clears as there are the show's years on air, gather boost canisters as if your navigation is set to the Simpson house, and travel a specific distance worthy of acquiring the perfect donuts!"

Although the full lineup of challenge rewards hasn't been revealed, here is what has been confirmed so far:

  • Blinky topper
  • Homer's hedge-themed banner
  • Waste wheels
  • 20,000 XP per challenge

Based on promotional images is a reliable guide, it appears fans will also receive wheels featuring a television displaying the show's opening credits, Kang and Kodos topper, a frosted doughnut trail, and boost effects themed to smoldering rubber and Krusty's famous restaurant.

Event Timing and Fortnite Connection

The Rocket League collaboration lines up with the major Simpsons takeover of Fortnite, which includes a completely new map of Springfield, in addition to a month-long Battle Pass. This special Rocket League and Simpsons celebration launches on Saturday, Nov. 1 and concludes on Nov. 17.
